Whilst recent headlines point to a world of certain uncertainties, may we be reminded that nothing beats the truth, security & certainty of the Lord’s protection, and his love, faithfulness, #grace & #mercy. Peaceful & restful weekend dear friends…

“I will say to the #Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my #God, in whom I trust.’

He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his #faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day” - ‭#Psalm‬ ‭91‬:‭2, 4-5‬ #ESV

Perhaps, instead on focusing on how much we’ve failed God, we should look at how much his grace has already changed us. Perfection is not in our domain but his, the perfect God, alone. Blessed week folks

#NOWHERE TO HIDE: King David wrote Psalm 51, a beautiful, humble prayer for mercy, forgiveness and praise when the Prophet Nathan confronted him with his affair with Bathsheba.

On reflection, perhaps the rest of us can learn a few things from this most famous predicament:
- Everyone is bound to FAIL. Even the great David, described by God as someone after his heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22), was certainly not an exception.
- We can NEVER HIDE our disobedience from God. He sees our heart, our true intentions, like David sending Uriah to battle, only because so he really wanted to have a romp with Bathsheba, the soldier’s wife.
- Sin has CONSEQUENCES, and can really hurt those around us. David delivered Uriah to his grave. Then, God didn’t allow the baby, the fruit of the affair, to thrive.
- Even greater MERCY awaits if we ask for forgiveness. “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.”, declared Nathan (2 Samuel 12:13). More importantly, David & Bathsheba would have another child, and his name was King #SOLOMON.

No distance from God’s heart is too far for him. No sin & disobedience is too much for God for those who turn back, ask forgiveness and run back to him. Proof you say? He sent his own son #Jesus to the cross so that sin, disobedience and all suffering it brings, are dealt with forever.

I pray that Psalm 51 will be our “go to” prayer not just in times of need, but a constant reminder of God’s great & abundant mercy. Have a blessed week, dear friends…

======
“Create in me a clean heart, O #God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your #HolySpirit from me.” #Psalm‬ ‭51‬:‭10-11‬ #ESV

LACKING NOTHING: Hundreds of years before #Jesus declared himself as the #GoodShepherd who lays his life for his sheep (#John 10v11), a shepherd David wrote this beautiful 23rd #Psalm about his own shepherd, the #Lord #Yahweh, which, of course none other Jesus himself! I pray that in these troubled times, we find #hope, #solace & #comfort in HIS rod & staff. God bless you dear friends…

=====
Psalm 23 (English Standard Version #ESV)
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

From today’s #Gospel: No one can sit on the fence. #Jesus asks each person “Who am I?” — just as he did to #StPeter. The question is, what will our answer be? #Blessed week ahead, folks!

“But who do you say that I am?” Simon #Peter replied, “You are the #Christ, the Son of the living #God.” #Matthew 16:15&16 #ESV (also in #Mark 8:29)

COME AS YOU ARE: The most amazing thing about# Jesus’s grace & mercy certainly lies with his timing. You see, he almost always dispensed grace & mercy in some of the most #desperate, #unlikely, #embarrassing, #awkward & #scandalous circumstances. Here a few examples:
- the woman about to be stoned for alleged adultery.
- the 5 time Samaritan divorcee, an outcast because of her race, gender & life choices.
- Zaccheus, the corrupt tax collector whilst clinging to a tree (he had to, he was too short to catch a glimpse of Jesus).
- a leper passing through town shouting “unclean, unclean” to warn residents, in what must be an excruciatingly humiliating experience. Yet Jesus decided to heal him by touch (mind you, he didn’t need to, he’s just needed to say something).
- Nicodemus, a Pharisee who met Jesus under the cover of darkness, afraid of being seen in his company.
- a man sick for 38 years fruitlessly seeking healing at the Pool of Bethsaida.
- a number of parents desperately seeking healing for their kids.
- the thief on the cross, whose life is surely at the end of the line.
- Peter, who was perhaps half-naked, and had been throwing nets all through the night without a catch. Mind you, this was right after his 3 denials and the Resurrection.
- Paul, all guns blazing (and nostrils a-smoking), riding to Damascus to catch, imprison and torture more Christians. That where Jesus decide to appear to him and make him an Apostle.

The point is that is that Jesus invites you & I to him, as we all are, even, nay, ESPECIALLY in the most desperate, unlikely, embarrassing, awkward & scandalous of places. He will grant his grace & mercy, and a promise of peace with God and eternal life with him. Come as you are, he says, and rest shall you receive. What a #beautiful #Saviour!

Blessed weekend, dear friends…

========
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” #Matthew 11:28-30 #ESV

LOST & FOUND: Ever wondered how the #AlmightyFather reacts when his lost kids find their way back home to him? Perhaps, we can catch a glimpse of it through the #ProdigalSon’s father (#Luke 15:11-32).

- He had been waiting for his son’s return. That’s why he saw his son from afar (Verse 20).
- When he saw his son again, he wasn’t angry at all. Instead, he was filled with compassion (Verse 20).
- He didn’t wait for his son to reach the gate. He immediately GOT UP and RAN TOWARDS him, and embraced and kissed him (Verse 20).
- His son humbly asked forgiveness and wished to be treated like one of his servants (Verse 21). Yet, the father asked his servants to bring him the best robe, a ring and a pair of sandals (Verse 22), all of which were reserved only for his children. The father #FORGAVE his son and #RESTORED his place in the family!
- He threw a party and served the best quality of food he had (Verse 23).

I don’t know with you, but who wouldn’t want to go back home to a Father like that?
