“Eye On The Prize”
Reflecting shortly before his execution, #StPaul wrote that he had fought the #goodfight, he finished the race and he remained #faithful. He was convinced that his #prize awaits — the #crown of #righteousness from #Jesus when he returns.
Does this matter to us at all? Of course it does! Paul wrote further the same prize will be awarded to all those who eagerly look forward to Jesus’s return.
In the face of daily, relentless #challenges, this is a #wonderful, #powerful #encouragement. No matter how #difficult (and in Paul’s case it certainly was), the race will end eventually. And there is a prize worth looking forward to!
Acceptance of the grace of Jesus’s #cross fires the starting gun. Then, at the finish line, Jesus will be the ultimate #cheerleader. There at the finish line awaits the ultimate #awardingceremony. There awaits a #trophy of eternal life and a crown of #righteousness awarded by none other than #God himself in the person of Jesus.
So, there you go — it’s absolutely worth keeping our eye on the #ultimateprize!

“God of Second Chances”
#God blesses us with #secondchances. In fact, he does so every single day! So, next time feel we’ve strayed too far away from God, think about these guys:
- #Matthew was a dodgy tax collector.
- #Peter denied #Jesus three times and hid while Jesus was on the cross.
- #Abraham denied Sarah was his wife, not just once, but twice.
- #Jacob was a first-rate cheat and played favourites with his kids.
- #Moses stuttered and ran away from murder.
- #David was an #adulterer and #murderer.
- #Elijah suffered from #depression.
Then there’s St. #Paul, writer of 13 of 27 New Testament books. When Jesus needed an apostle to the Gentiles, he picked the perfect candidate – Paul, not just A but THE #enemyofthechurch. He was a thug who dragged Jesus’s followers to #prison and even approved stoning them to death. Yet, Jesus appeared to him and goes on to fiercely preach the grace of the cross, leading to his own death.
Who says God’s people, even the most famous and celebrated, were #perfect?
Each day is yet another chance to submit to the #LordJesus and experience his unending forgiveness and grace.

I thought that the #champion #Godclingers were #Jacob (Gen 32:26) and #David (Ps 63:8). Well, until a friend pointed out what #Jesus said right after miraculously feeding over 5,000 people:
“This is the will of him who sent me, that I SHALL LOSE NONE OF ALL THOSE HE HAS GIVEN ME, but raise them up at the last day.” — #John 6:39 %NIV
That my friends, is a picture of #God’s immense #faithfulness. Human #frailty leads us away from him often, but, oh boy, does he #cling to you and me, like only God can!!!

At the #cross, our #imperfect #faith meets the #perfect #God in the person of #Jesus, through whom he poured out his boundless #grace, #forgiveness and #love.

When the #ApostleJohn met the #resurrected #Jesus in his #fullglory, he fainted at what must have been an #aweinspiring and perhaps #terrifying #sight. Yet, Jesus reached out to touch John, pulled him upright and told him - #FearNot.
That, my #friends, is a perfect #picture of just how immense Jesus’s #grace is. Picture it: the #WordofGod, #creator of the #universe and the #perfect #God himself reaching out to his #lost and #broken #children.
So, when the #dailygrind weighs upon us, let’s remember that the #King’s outstretched #righthand is always ready to pull us up, and his #voice is telling us that he is squarely #onourside.
